When did you start tattooing: 2004

Who was your first client, and what type of tattoo did you do: A good friend of mine. She got a butterfly on her arm.

How long have you been doing tattoos: Close to 20 years now.

Where did you do your apprenticeship? Voodoo Needle in Auburn, Alabama. It’s been closed for a few years now.

Did you ever doubt yourself? If so, who or what have you the confidence: The piercer convinced me I had too much talent to quit. I owe him for helping me not screw up a golden opportunity.

Describe your style of tattooing: I tattoo lots of personalized Cherubs, Angels, and pin-ups. I call them Loveless tattoos which ironically show exactly what a person loves.

Do you have any tattoos & how many: Quite a few. I stopped counting around 20.

What do you think was your best piece, and how long did it take: That I’ve done? That’s tough. I have so many I love. I did this Jimi Hendrix-inspired Loveless tattoo that I still post often. I guess that one has stood the test of time.

What inspired you to start tattooing: Honestly, I kind of just fell into it when I went to college. But I’m glad that I did.

Who or what are your influences: My influences come moreso from anime and manga. Because I draw so many black characters, I do hear I have a heavy Boondocks influence, which I’m cool with.

Have you done any cover-ups, how many have you done? Way too many to count. But I try to limit them these days. I’m getting old, haha.

It’s been a long but fun journey. I try not to compete with anyone but myself. For some reason, that has always helped me get better. If I had any advice, it would be to always get better at art. Tattooing is only a small part of being a great artist.
